I saw the last two Potter films and they were fine, but they were children's movies start to finish. There is nothing wrong with that, I enjoyed them when I saw them. Yet as I got older they appealed to me less and less. At one point I decided not to go see the next movies. But on the day the Prisoner of Azkaban came out I decided to go see it anyway. I was pleasantly surprised.
I felt the same felling that I had felt when I first read the book. There numerous changes from book to movie as with the previous movies, yet that is not what I am talking about. It had the feel of the books, it moved at the same pace, had as much mystery, character development, and the same amount of joy when there was a chance of Harry moving away from the Durslys for ever. I really felt like I was reading the book again.
This last paragraph is for all who gave this movie a bad review. First, I hated the ending too. Second, I will not deny that this movie left a lot out, but this book probably had the most new info thus far, so I am amazed that the movie makers that the movie makers got in as much as they did. Concerning the new locations I had a little trouble with them too, but you shouldn't let that bother you, at least they looked better than in previous movies. If you are a true stickler about the locations and the last sentence didn't change your mind then keep in mind that Hogwarts is a magical place that changes and grows. Last if you think the books and movies are evil I say this, no one is forcing you to read or watch the movies, and if you really want to get rid of evil than give food to the hungry or donate to a charity. It would be unwise to waste you're time protesting a children's book.
Isn't it amazing that I go through this whole review without using the word magic?

Harry Potter is one of the most hyped movies of the year and I am happy to inform all viewers that this is one heck of a movie and certainly lives up to expectations. The movie literally took my breath away with its brilliant design and set decoration, and I had to remind my heart to keep beating during the Quidditch match. Harry Potter is a movie so vibrant and brilliant to look at, that when you leave the cinema, you still have a dark, candle-lit Hogwarts flashing in front of you. This movie has heaps of heart and is a joy to watch. When the credits flashed I was pleading with the silver screen for the film to continue going! The acting in the movie is highly satisfactory. Daniel Radcliffe is a very believable and perfectly cast Harry Potter, while Emma Watson has some brilliant lines in a character so intelligent and intriguing she steals some of the scenes. More of those scenes are stolen by a gobsmacking Rupert Grint as Ron Weasley, who is a great entertainer and a brilliant and un-shy performer in front of the screen. Adult actors Robbie Coltrane, Richard Harris, Ian Hart, Maggie Smith and especially Alan Rickman are all excellent and are setting themselves up for career-best moves with the Harry Potter saga. Chris Columbus have never directed better. With moving pictures, staircases, 3-headed dogs, and a brilliant and breathtaking castle, he has put it all together and has shined out the movie more than anybody else in the crew. But the person you have to give credit to is J.K. Rowling. This woman, once a poor and struggling woman writing Harry Potter books in a caf?is now a billionaire and has some written some damn good material and deserves a big round of applause. She truly brings out the magic in the movie, and it is because of her ideas and sheer brilliance that we get the masterpiece of a result that Harry Potter is. Overall, this is a destined classic, and one of the few movies that had me in a toothy grin throughout.

I loved this movie when I saw it in the theaters and still do when I see it again on DVD. But.There is still but about this DVD. I was eager to get this and was delighted to read that it would be on 2 DVDs. I thought that the first disc would have a magnificent picture with Dolby Digital 5.1 EX and DTS ES tracks. It was a disappointment that it didn't include a DTS track, even though there seem to be space for it, since there are no audio commentary or other special features on the first disc. The picture was good with vibrant colors and the sound track was good too, but it lacked that extra dynamic sound that SO many DVDs lack, that almost all newer laserdiscs had (even on movies in mono sound). But I bought this movie mainly for the movie itself. The movie is magical in every way, with a virtually perfect cast. Daniel Radcliffe as Harry has just right amount of charm and charisma to make the character work on the big screen. Robbie Coltrane, Richard Harris, Alan Rickman and Maggie Smith are just a few of the great English actors who star in this movie. I think this movie will endure for many years to come. Now for the negative side, the special features disc. It is true what other reviewers have said that it is made like a kid's game. I wanted to see the documentaries about the different aspects of the book to film process, but all it contained (or at least what I have found) was a 15 minute documentary that reminds me of the bad 'behind the scenes' programs on E! or other entertainment TV stations, that are shown when the movie is in the theaters and don't really say much. The documentary did say some, but it was all in bits and pieces. There should just have been a link to a game version of the features for kids and a normal features menu for adults. The movie, though, is worth the movie I paid for the entire release, but I don't think I'll be watching the features disc much at all.

I loved the books, but this movie totally ruined them. While I liked the plot and characters, the acting was horrible! It looked like they just picked any kid off the street and offered them a job....no doubt they actually did that. I went to the movie opening day and paid... to see it, what a mistake!...

That answer may be difficult to answer. All material things have a end, and for Harry Potter I do not see it's end any time soon. I am deeply awaiting the arrival of this DVD because I am a great fan and have been waiting forever to enjoy this movie. It kept faithfull to J.K. Rowling and for that I rate it 5 stars. The production might not have been very good to everyone's eyes, but I held it accounted because the movie was faithfull to the book, if it was made into a 'Hollywood Version' perhaps the production would have been better, but fans everywhere including myself would have left disappointed. So over all I think that the movie was great, gave fans a in depth look at the Magival World of Harry Potter for the many years that we have been dreaming about.
