Great movie, nice DVD features

The 2 disc Harry Potter DVD is a great value. In addition to the widescreen version of the acclaimed movie, there is also a second disc with special features, such as deleted scenes and a tour of the Hogwarts castle. On the DVD-ROM, there are various computer features as well. I enjoyed playing through the mini-games.I have one complaint however, which is why I rated this four stars instead of five. In order to view the deleted scenes, you first have to win the game on the second disc (which takes a little over half an hour). The deleted scenes should have been directly accessible from the DVD's menu.

A Supreme Disappointment.

Despite this film's many fine qualities, I cannot refer to it as a success for the film series. Even when one ignores the fact that no film can ever live up to the book it may be based upon, and that the Prisoner of Azkaban is at least twice the length of the previous two novels; the movie just does not meet the standards set by the previous two movies. To begin, the movie is only about 135mins. in length. This may seem inconsequential at first but please note that each of the other two movies were at least 190mins. in length and ,as I said , the book is twice as long as the other two. This being the case a large amount of the plot was cut as well as crucial information for those in the audience who prefer not to read the books first. My only hope is that somehow they actually filmed many more scenes (or at least a few ) and that these scenes will be available on some sort of Extended Edition DVD a la LOtR because frankly, this movie just does not cut it.

Harry Potter widescreen dvd review

It was great to watch Harry Potter again and revisit the world of Hogwarts. The book literally comes alive with the performance of this children's movie. My kids enjoyed not only the movie, but plays for hours with the enclosed special features such as making potions,clicking on the characters to make them talk and the game. The extra disc (which has the extra footage and bonus games) is a nice feature to keep separate the movie from the extra fun (and less chance of damaging the movie). Overall it was an excellent choice to purchase for the kids!The only complaint I had was that many scenes from the original big screen production was that some scenes had been trimmed to make the movie shorter (ie Dudley's birthday trip to the zoo). I would have prefered the original movie unaltered, but it still is a great story!rick from florida

This is a great movie

I love this movie, I loved the book and I think the movie was done brilliantly. My two year old daughter wants to watch this one along with the other two Harry Potter's every morning. This movie has everything a good movie needs, suspense, scariness, heart warming moments and of course the action we expect out of Harry Potter, I would recommend it to anyone and I could watch it a hundred times more and still LOVE IT!

Very disappointing

As a huge Harry Potter fan, and having really enjoyed the first two movies, I was very eager to see 'The Prisoner of Azkaban', and now I wish I had rented it and saved my money. There is almost no character development, and Hogwarts now looks as if it is a ruin. But perhaps worst of all it is a poorly constructed movie. My husband, who has not read the books, but thoroughly enjoyed the first two movies, was completely lost in this one. Scenes change quickly, frequently with no explanation, and while this is not a serious problem if you have read the book, for others it makes for a choppy, disjointed mess. Let's hope that if they make the fourth movie, they'll change directors.
