Ill admit some of the changes in the special edition weren't great namely greedo firing first and the new songs in return of the jedi. but this dvd only serves to make the films look a little better and have better continuity. Greedo fires first looks a lot better and the timing is more like they fire at the same time. Jabba and the speeder looks way bettter in a new hope this time. the emperor and boba fett are played by who they should be played by in empire strikes back. and anakin appears as he appeared before he ceased to exist. how could anakin have grown older. as obi wan says anakin ceased to exist when he became vader. ill admit it would be nice to have the originals as a bonus feature like on the alien quadrilogy discs, or at least have a comparison feature so you can see the original scenes that were changed like on Star Trek the motion picture, but the fact is the dvd makes all good changes, so stop whining about it.

Finally the greatest trilogy is coming on dvd. And you poeple who have the nerve to say bad stuff about need it get a life and who cares if the original is not out "YET". Im sure he will put the original version movies on dvd.

This movie is SO bad, which is a shame considering the talented cast. The story is dull and listless, and plays like an episode of Columbo in space (with all the lines being delivered in very wooden tones) . The original Star Wars movies (episodes 4, 5, and 6) were exciting and fun to watch. This movie, along with episode 1 is simply dull. Far too often the viewer is asking themselves, "What happened to George Lucas' brain?" I couldn't even bring myself to go to a theater to see this movie (after episode one being so bad, I wasn't going to fall for that again). I saw it when it appeared on HBO. At this rate, it will take extreme use of force to make me watch episode three...... this poor franchise, which started out so well, is being beaten further and further into the ground... unless you are a fanatical Star Wars fan, do not waste your time with this movie (even then, the fanatical will most likely be majorly disappointed as well).

If you are familiar with the first 3, this one lacks a compelling story, and fails to maintain any suspense. [We already know what will happen with most of the characters--we've already been told the ending in the 1st 3 films. None of the rest of the Star Wars series yet to be made will be able to maintain much suspense either, for the same reason.]Still, as an exercise in Star Wars stuff, it is moderately entertaining, and the special effects are really neat. Chaulk one up for ever improving computer technology. However, the effects may lose something in the translation to the smaller TV screen. The letterbox edition should be better than the cropped version.

look i'm excited for the trilogy to come out on dvd, but i want to have choice which version i watch. how hard can it be to put out two versions of film? sources say that you plan on using the special edition version of your films , but please for those of us that grew up with these films, put out the original versions that weren't tampered with.! i've got the stargate ultimate edition so i know it can be done . so do it for the fans that grew up with these films instead of the ones that came after.A fan ! oh well i'm thankful i still have thx mastered vhs copies of the original films , because i'll probably be watching those. i never was a very big fan of special edition expect for adding the jabba the hutt scene in the first film, besides that tweaking these classic films was a sin my book . but like i said include both versions in the same case! it's a just an idea.
